BJ is joined by special guest Chris Grey, co-owner of Cheapkiss Records, who was gracious enough to share with us his vast collection of regional radio station compilations from the early eighties. BJ and Chris discuss the obsessive nature of record collecting and then you'll get to hear a bunch of cool songs by local, unsigned bands from those radio station comps.
I simply could not devote an episode of the podcast to Rod Stewart without also acknowledging the brilliance of his former bandmate Ronnie Lane. Enjoy this bonus episode.
BJ closely examines the first ten years or so of a storied career. Rod Stewart played a pretty major role in the development of rock and roll before he forsook his artistry (and the guy was a true artist) for the pomp and circumstance of pomp and circumstance. If you are unfamiliar with Rod's early work, solo and with the Faces, prepare to be impressed.
It's time for Pods and/or Roll as BJ is joined by Craig Smith and Eric Miller from the Pods & Sods podcast for a revelatory discussion about songs each of them likes that people more prone to shame and/or embarrassment would perhaps hesitate to admit to liking but the theme of this episode is "no shame" and absolutely none is felt.
Since this is episode number seventy BJ decided to take a look at his own personal top ten favorite albums that were released in the corresponding year of 1970.
